Our workshops combine both theory and practice. All our trainers are industry practitioners who have many years of senior management experience at the regional level. In addition, we adopt a neuro-centric approach in all our training, where we combine and apply concepts from psychology, neuroscience, neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), and neuro-semantics.
Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and behavior. As a science, psychology attempts to investigate the causes of behaviour using systematic and objective procedures for observation, measurement and analysis. These are backed up by theoretical interpretations, generalizations, explanations and predictions. Psychology also investigates the following: learning and memory, perception, motivation and emotion, thinking and language, personality and social behavior, intelligence, and much more.
Neuroscience is the study of the development, structure and function of the nervous system, with a special focus on the brain and its role in behavior and cognitive functions. As Dr. Eric Kandel puts it: “The task of neural science is to explain behavior in terms of the activities of the brain. How does the brain marshal its millions of individual nerve cells to produce behavior, and how are these cells influenced by the environment...? The last frontier of the biological sciences—their ultimate challenge—is to understand the biological basis of consciousness and the mental processes by which we perceive, act, learn, and remember.”
NLP is an approach to communication, personal development and psychotherapy created by Dr RIchard Bandler and John Grinder. It explores the relationships between how we think (neuro), how we communicate (linguistic) and our patterns of behaviour and emotion (programmes). NLP can also be considered the science of modelling the patterns of human behavior to enable personal change, human excellence and success.
Neuro-semantics is a model about how we create and embody meaning. It was developed by Dr. L. Michael Hall, who postulates that the way we create and embody meaning determines our sense of life and reality, our skills and competencies, and the quality of our experiences. The semantic part refers to all of the meanings that we create as meaning-makers. The neurology part (neuro-) refers to our body, physiology, and states (mental & emotional). It is in and through our neurology that we feel, experience, and perform our meanings.
